July Reflection

Hey Amazing Ladies!

I wanted to take a moment to share some reflections from July and the recent Space & Grace Connection Call. In our August 1st call, we dove deep into the topics of surviving and thriving, exploring how we can shift our mindset from just getting by to truly flourishing in our daily lives. I hope you’ll reflect on the highlights and insights we shared, and consider how we can all start making that shift today to thriving.

One book that came highly recommended by Kelly was The Well-Lived Life by Gladys McGarey, which offers valuable insights into living a fulfilling life.

Surviving vs. Thriving

Many of us feel overwhelmed by a big list of things to do, rushing from one task to the next without taking a moment to breathe. It's easy to get caught up in the hustle, allowing other people's needs to feel more urgent than our own. We've all experienced the fast slide back into survival mode, where we're living by the clock, constantly feeling like there aren't enough hours in the day.

Our discussion revealed some personal stories that highlighted this shared struggle we experience. One woman shared her experience achieving business success but finding herself in survival mode in her day-to-day due to energy changes and the challenge of finding joy in everyday activities. Another shared her journey of accepting the lack of control and letting go of the illusion that we can protect others from their mistakes. Her wisdom reminded us that people need their own bumps and bruises to grow.

We also circled back to the TEAR Model, Thoughts, Emotions, Actions, and Results. This model helped us understand how our thoughts and emotions drive our actions, which in turn shape our results. By consciously choosing positive thoughts and emotions - that serve us - we can begin to create the outcomes we desire.

Leaning into Thriving

Thriving is about finding balance and connection. Some ways the group decided to lean into thriving are:

  • Connecting with Close Friends: Cherish those relationships where we can talk about anything and feel supported.

  • Connecting with Our Body: Listen to what our bodies need, whether it's rest, exercise, or nutritious food.

  • Getting Out in Nature: Nature has a way of grounding us and bringing us peace.

  • Practicing Gratitude: A daily gratitude practice can shift our perspective from lack to abundance.

  • Blurring the Lines Between Work and Play: Rediscover childhood joys and bring that playfulness into your life. For me, that's traveling! ✈️

Sherlonda said it beautifully: "Being still and doing nothing are two very different things."
It's essential to find moments of stillness where we can simply be.

- Warmly, Wendy
